Wired News reports on the increasing use of straight vegetable oil (SVO) or vegetable oils converted to diesel - biodiesel - to fuel cars.
A curious blend of consumers -- from clean-air activists to school districts to the U.S. military -- are now running their diesel engines off either straight vegetable oil, known as SVO, or vegetable oil that has been converted to diesel fuel, or biodiesel. [Source: Wired News]
The environmental benefits of biodiesel are that it is much cleaner than petrodiesel (dinodiesel).
